Ms. Breen stated in the Sun that we are “lowering the bar” (“Lowering the bar,” Oct. 11). You must have been present at the party because you seem to have some information that the rest of us don’t have. Several people that Ms. Ford said were there denied ever being at this party.

For me, Ms. Ford was no more believable than Judge Kavanaugh. The burden of proof was on her and she had none. She couldn’t recall any of the details or have any evidence of her allegations. Have you forgotten about the Constitution and Amendment 14, which states that in the United States, a person is considered innocent until proven guilty. The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees to every person, aliens included, “equal protection under the law.”

Why should we believe the women over the men every time? In Ms. Ford’s case there was not a shred of evidence in her favor. Just because a woman says something, doesn’t make it so. Why didn’t Ms. Ford speak up when Mr. Kavanaugh became a judge? It should have been important at that time also for her to tell her story.

To me, the timing of her coming out was very suspect. So, I will err on the side of “innocent until proven guilty.”
