The Santa Maria Philharmonic successfully delivered an afternoon of music as part of its Rendezvous Series. Philharmonic members and guests were treated to the harmonies of the Burnished Brass Quartet, comprised of Rich Ward and Jerry Boots on trumpet, Steve Wilson on trombone, and Greg Magie on horn. Katelyn Guy, a recent graduate of San Luis Obispo High School, was an addition to the quartet.
The event was presented by Stu and Jan Bartleson at the Bartleson Ranch.
The Rendezvous Series is inspired by house or āsalonā concerts, which began centuries ago in parlors and drawing rooms.Ā
The Santa Maria Philharmonic Society Rendezvous Series is presented quarterly and draws from the musicians and ensembles of the Central Coast. The series also promotes the advancement of future classical artists by providing opportunities for students to perform alongside seasoned professionals.
The next Rendezvous Series is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Lake Marie Estates clubhouse, with Ruth Ann and Rick Ontell and Robert and Louise Hammond acting as hosts.
Tickets cost $50 and include food, wine, and the Favoloso Quartetto, featuring Brynn Albanese and Jim Riccardo on violin, Karen Loewi Jones on viola, and Jeanne Shumway on cello.
