Santa Maria High School’s starting quarterback Sebastian Saiz has a challenging football season ahead of him.Ā
The 17-year-old senior is following in the immediate footsteps of last year’s All-Area MVP, and he’s working with a young, inexperienced team. But head football coach Dan Ellington said Saiz is determined to make this football season a good one for Santa Maria High School.
“Sebastian has had family issues throughout the summer,” Ellington said, “but still was at every practice pushing not only make himself better, but the team better.”Ā
Saiz said he hopes to reach even beyond what the team accomplished last year. He’s been playing football since he was 9 years old and said he likes the game for its constant intensity.Ā
After his last year of high school, Saiz said he hopes to continue his football career in college.Ā
