• Titan Classic Golf Tournament: A golf fundraiser for Nipomo High School Booster Club takes place May 12 at Monarch Dunes Golf Course. • Santa Maria Youth Football League: The league is taking registrations for the 2012 football and cheerleading seasons. Football fees are $200, including a jersey, gear rental, a trophy, and a basic picture package. Players must be between ages 8 and 14 during the season. Cheerleaders must be in kindergarten to 8th grade for the 2012-2013 school year. Fees are $180 and include uniform, cheer camp, and a basic picture package. Registrations will be held at the Westgate Community Room, 1300 Marsala Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 12 to 13, June 9 to 10, June 23 to 24, July 14 to 15, and July 21 to 22. Parents must provide two copies of the child’s birth certificate, a current report card, and a recent photo. • First Tee’s LPGA-USGA Girls Golf: Girls can learn about golf at a First Tee program, hosted by former LPGA Tour player Bonnie Lauer at Blacklake Golf Resort in Nipomo. Classes cost $75, cover the basics of golf, and are open to all girls (age 10 and older recommended). They take place Fridays from 4 to 5 p.m. on April 27, May 11 and 25, and June 8. • Patriot Games Challenge: A United States Powerlifting Association-sanctioned event includes powerlifting, bench press, deadlift, and push-pull competitions, scheduled for May 26 at the Santa Maria Athletic Club. The competition is dedicated to Aaron Allen, a Marine corporal from Buellton who was killed in Iraq in 2008. Lifting begins at 10 a.m., followed by a special program honoring Allen and veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
