The St. Joseph girls cross country team just wrapped up a strong season at the state meet Nov. 25. Last season, sophomore runner Beth Rigali was the only one from her team to qualify for the CIF State girls cross country meet. But this season, the whole team attended the Division 5 state race in Fresno.
The Lady Knights needed to finish in at least seventh place at the Mt. Sac CIF Southern Section finals; they finished in sixth. Just after Thanksgiving, the team competed in the 5K state race held at Woodward Park Course.
Now a junior, Rigali finished 16th overall and 12th in the Division 5 race with 19:32 to complete the 3.1 miles. Kiana Kawatachi placed 35th, Kaileen Cruden placed 78th, and Briana Murphy finished 106th. Other St. Joe runners include Bridget Adam (118th), Megan Murphy (126th), and Bailey Durnin (130th).
St. Joseph finished 15th out of 22 Division 5 teams.
