A local branch of the nonprofit STS Foundation is looking for some Santa Maria residences to serve as homes away from home for international high school students during the spring 2010 semester.
“These students would like to integrate themselves into a loving and caring family with the goal of experiencing American culture as an American high school student does. In turn, they will provide insight into their own culture,” program officials wrote in a recent press release.
According to the release, host families provide their students with individual beds, family meals, and a loving and caring environment. Students participating in the program have their own spending money and health insurance.
