There’s still time for youth to sign up for the Santa Maria Valley YMCA’s 2012 Rookie Sports Floor Hockey League, where children can learn the basics of hockey in a fun environment.
The program is designed to develop skills and character, as well as teach rules and traditions of the sport to children ages 3 to 6. Youth between 3 and 4 will play Mondays at 5 p.m. beginning Jan. 24; ages 5 to 6 will play Mondays at 6 p.m., starting on the same date. The season runs until Feb. 21.
The cost to register is $48 for YMCA members and $63 for all other participants, and includes a team photo, uniform, and snacks. Financial assistance is available. Registration ends Jan. 20.
