As an Independent trying to stay on top of the platforms of politics, I am dismayed by the lack of knowledge of the Democratic opinions. I don’t care for Bush, but understand his problems. Obama, like the Clintons, will promise you anything that will win your vote, even though he has no experience in anything.
The job of the president is as an administrator. He can’t fund anything, other than a few million in discretionary funds, that hasn’t been generated by Congress. When Congress declares war, the Constitution gives the president, as commander in chief, substantially increased power. He takes on this obligation when he gives his oath.
President George W. Bush had the misfortune of being in office when 9/11 occurred. And even though his policies have kept the United States from being attacked at home, he is under constant criticism by people who don’t seem to remember we are under attack by the Muslims.
There is one group that thinks Bush should be impeached. Unlike President Bill Clinton, who lied to the public and ignored two attacks on the World Trade Center, Bush has done nothing that isn’t his right under the Constitution.
The Democrats like to blame Bush for everything wrong in our country, but insist on electing wealthy lawyers to represent us. These so-called representatives are so busy taking care of their own futures, I believe we are left far behind.
Vice President Richard B. Cheney has been an adviser in the government since 1969. He personally has no power other than in tied voting in Congress. If he feels we should bomb Iran, he’s entitled. Personally, I believe that Israel, which is surrounded by Muslims who want to destroy it, will take care of that.
