The C Gallery in Los Alamos, founded by artistic director Connie Rohde, will show an exhibit of Rohde’s gesture drawings, titled Plastic Paper. Cheap Brushes. Obsession. The exhibit opens on July 18 with a reception event from 4 to 7 p.m. at the C Gallery, including a talk with the artist and food by Chef Jesper Johansen.
Rohde’s work is an exploration of materials and the metaphysical realm, the artist explained in a release, as the quickly produced drawings are supposed to convey a piece of the creator.
“I uphold the belief that every mark we make is a snap shot of ourselves in that moment,” she said in the release, “the marks reflect the interior.”
The exhibit will also include the sculpture of Albert McCurdy, who has shown at the C Gallery since it began in 2008. The C Gallery is located at 466 Bell St., Los Alamos. More information is available at 344-3807 or thecgallery.com.
