Allan Hancock College running back Cameron Artis-Payne is racking up the awards in 2012, evidenced by his recent selection as the Southern California Football Association National Division Northern Conference’s Player of the Week for the third time in five weeks.

Artis-Payne, who was the Sun’s Athlete of the Week for Sept. 20, ran for 206 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 50-44 win over Los Angeles Harbor College on Oct. 6. His 84-yard touchdown run with less than two minutes left in the game sealed the deal. As of press time, Artis-Payne had 14 touchdowns, the most for any community college football player in the state. He also leads the state in rushing with an average of 198 yards per game, and averages 8.4 yards per carry.
