Students in junior high and high school are encouraged to attend a free job fair hosted by the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department on May 6.

The event will give attendees the opportunity to meet with employers and recruiters who will provide information about summer jobs, volunteer work experiences, and educational opportunities. It’s designed to help teens learn about entering the workforce and register for courses guiding them toward their career goals. Organizers will be providing job applications, informal interviews, workshops, prize drawings, snacks, and great door prizes. Parents, teachers and mentors are also encouraged to attend.

The fair takes place at the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center, 600 South McClelland St., from 3 to 5 p.m.
