Make a New Year’s resolution to open a new business. Women’s Economic Ventures will help you keep it with support from a Self-Employment Training āØprogram.
The program runs for 56 hours, spread over 14 weeks, and teaches women and men (though the focus is on women) how to start, operate, or expand a business. By the end of the last session, participants will have a complete business plan, including a marketing plan, a cash flow projection, an operations plan, and more.
Women’s Economic Ventures offers the Self-Employment Training course twice a year in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, and Ventura. The next session starts in February, but participants must first attend an hour-long orientation. In Santa Maria, orientations are Jan. 6, 14, 20, and 28, and Feb. 3. The meetings are in English from 6 to 7 p.m., then in Spanish from 7 to 8, and include an overview of programs and services available through Women’s Economic Ventures.
