It’s only been a year, but Mark Inguaggiato has already jumped from being ranked No. 74 all the way to No. 46 in the Southern California 4 Men’s Singles level. He’ll also have participated in 15 tennis tournaments at the end of the year—in a usual year, he only plays in 10.

But even though Inguaggiato has been prospering in his tournaments, he still can spot areas for improvement.

“One thing that I need to work on is my serve, since it’s a big part of the game,” he said.

Inguaggiato also said he’s had to work on volleying close to the net. He recently won the Santa Maria Open 4, with a score of 6-3, 6-3.

“I started out with my power racquet and had to change it in the middle of the first set to cut more angles and get him running,” he said.

Inguaggiato played for an exhausting seven hours; a total of 80 games were played that weekend.

In the near future, he’ll be going to tournaments in Long Beach and Santa Barbara, and he’ll play in the first-ever tournament at the San Luis Obispo Country Club, which will mark the end of his season.
