Millions of people around the world will celebrate Earth Day on April 22, and Rod Chilcoat, owner of Kleanerette Dry Cleaners and Laundry, is asking people to think bigger than the one-day observance.
Chilcoatās business switched to environmentally friendly dry cleaning in 2002, using a GreenEarth Cleaning process without air-polluting volatile organic compounds. Dry cleaners looking for a non-polluting alternative to perchloroethylene created the process in 1999, employing a silicone-based solvent thatās fully biodegradable and listed as a preferred alternative to ozone-depleting chemicals by the U.S. EPA.
Kleanerette Dry Cleaners and Laundry is located at 1529 S. Broadway in Santa Maria.
