Santa Maria’s Engel and Gray, Inc. equipment yard will be the site for the Santa Barbara County Chapter of the American Red Cross’ “M*A*S*H Bash,” a celebration of 100 years of First Aid, on Nov. 5 and 6.

On Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Engel and Gray will display a historical exhibit showing how First Aid has changed through the years. The exhibit will feature vintage Red Cross pins, historical uniforms, and vintage Red Cross photos.

On both days, the Red Cross will be holding free “Common Medical Emergencies” classes at the yard, every half-hour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The classes feature a half-hour video and hands-on practice for controlling bleeding, caring for burns and more. Marian Medical Center will also be providing free medical screenings from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Nov. 6, the Red Cross will hold First Aid trainings for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, starting at 10 a.m. and running every hour until 3 p.m. United Blood Services will take blood donations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Maria will hold a Santa Maria-style barbecue from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $7.

Engel & Gray is located at 745 Betteravia Road in Santa Maria.
