For those who yearn to relive a moment of childhood scouting, support the organization, or just want another chance at Pinewood Derby Racing, now is the chance. Boy Scouts of America will be celebrating its centennial at the Santa Maria Town Center on Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will feature a climbing wall, wood carving demonstrations, and the classic Pinewood Derby Races conducted by scouts from all over the Central Coast.

The general public will be allowed to partake in the races. Also, people who claim they can cook better than a Boy Scout—which is purely inconceivable—will have the opportunity to try with the Dutch-Oven Cook Off.

A formal flag ceremony will start at 1 p.m. and will include special guests and a Boy Scout color guard that will represent Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties at the 100th National Jamboree this summer at Fort AP Hill in Virginia.

The celebration will also be a chance for the public to see what children and young adults learn in the organization.

Honorary Scout-O-Rama Chairs will be KCOY news anchors Arturo Santiago and Katie Marzullo.
