On Feb. 27, St. Joseph High School officials will welcome Paul Coughlin—an internationally recognized anti-bullying expert and founder of the faith-based organization, the Protectors—to speak at a special assembly for the high school students and seventh- and eighth-graders from Pacific Christian and St. Louis de Montfort schools. Coughlin will discuss his four-part anti-bullying program and provide effective anti-bullying strategies for students and teachers.
Coughlin is an author of a collection of books and has appeared on a number of television programs, including Good Morning America and Nightline.
According to the Protectors website, Coughlin identified himself as a “target of bullying while in elementary school.” He has since developed a comprehensive anti-bullying program, which focuses on developing the courage of bystanders, or what he calls “alongside standers.” Coughlin “helps children of all ages understand that they can feel fear and still obey their conscience by doing the right thing anyway.”
