The city of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department will be holding its seventh community walk on June 30, a benefit for the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County.

Participants will meet at 10 a.m. at the Foodbank at 490 W. Foster Road. The two-mile walk follows the trail running parallel to Foster Road, to Pioneer Park and back. Participants are encouraged to bring two non-perishable food items to donate to the Foodbank. Pre-registration isn’t required. Dog lovers are welcome to bring their pets.

The city’s Community Walk Series encourages people to take up a daily walking regimen for health and well-being. Residents can also pick up a free informational walking packet, including a pedometer and helpful fitness tips, at the Recreation and Parks Department, 615 S. McClelland St.

For more information, call the Recreation and Parks Department at 925-0951, Ext. 260.
