Show off your basketball skills and earn a shot at a trip to Dallas for the 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend at the NBA FIT Dribble, Swish, and Dish Competition on Nov. 1.
Young basketball fans ages 7 to 12 will have the opportunity to showcase their handling, shooting, and passing against their peers by running a half-court obstacle course to test their fitness and abilities. Winners will receive awards and move on to compete in the regional event. The nation’s top-12 competitors will win a vacation to All-Star Weekend in February.
The free event takes place at the Edwards Community Center from 1 to 3 p.m., and is sponsored by the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, Santa Maria Valley YMCA, and the Rise and Achieve Foundation.
Registrations will be done on-site on the day of the event. The Edwards Community Center is located at 809 Panther Drive in Santa Maria.
