Members of the Central Coast Follies are putting their toe-tapping, heart-singing efforts into their seventh annual show to benefit Parkinson’s disease research. This year’s exciting show, Love is in the Air, is under the direction of Jason Sumabat of Blue Dove Productions, and will showcase music showing the ups and downs of relationships. Hear such tunes as I Wish I Were in Love Again; Sunshine, Lollipops; Copacabana, and Love is in the Air.

Ā

Sumabat boasts more than 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry: He’s performed at the Richard Pryor Theater, the Ahmanson Theater, the NBC complex, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and the Fox Television Network. Locally, he’s worked at the Clark Center, PCPA, PLOT, and the SLO Little Theatre as director, choreographer, and producer. Stephen McAndrew, vocal director to the Follies singers, has performed in cabarets, nightclubs, and special events on both coasts and Europe. He currently performs at various Central Coast venues, works as a studio vocalist, and is vocal coach to performers throughout Southern and Central California.

Ā

In the past six years, Follies members have been able to send more than $128,000 to the Parkinson Alliance, with the Tuchman Fund matching their donation dollar for dollar.

Performances for this year’s show will be held at the Clark Center at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1 and 2, with matinees on Oct. 3 and 4 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $20 each or $17 for groups of 15 or more. Special needs seating and hearing amplification is available upon request. For tickets, call 489-9444.
