College students who graduated from high schools in the Santa Maria Valley area showed up in record numbers on the Allan Hancock College Dean’s Honors List and Special Honors List for the fall 2008 semester, the college announced recently.
More than 600 Allan Hancock College students were named to the lists, which recognize students’ academic achievement at the college. For the fall 2008 semester, 203 graduates from Santa Maria Valley high schools were among the 608 Allan Hancock College students named to the Dean’s Honors List.
Each semester, students named to the Dean’s Honors List must complete at least 12 units with at least a 3.5 GPA. To be named to the Special Honors List, students must complete at least 12 units with a 4.0 GPA. Of the 608 total students, 239 were named to the Special Honors List, including 62 graduates of Santa Maria Valley high schools.
