Brooks and Dunn, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Randy Travis, and other country musicians have appeared at the casino. Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White, Rodney Carrington, and other comedians have performed there, too.
With its who’s-who list of stars who’ve graced the stage, Chumash Casino Resort has been nominated for the “Casino of the Year Award” by the Academy of Country Music. The resort, with its 1,410-seat Samala Showroom, is one of only five casinos in the country to get the nod, given to a casino that’s done a “superior job” in its efforts to bring big-name singers to the area and that’s helped promote country music ticket sales.
Winners will be announced at the 44th Academy of Country Music Awards scheduled for April 5 at 8 p.m.
