If all goes according to plan, men’s basketball coach Tyson Aye will be spearheading the new youth basketball club at Allan Hancock College. According to a press release from the school, the club would serve as an extension of Aye’s clinics.

“A lot of parents and coaches are asking us to do more for the local basketball community. This is our plan to make Hancock the place for learning and playing basketball in the Santa Maria Valley,” coach Aye said in the press release. “It also makes sense because the Joe White Memorial Gym on campus is the nicest basketball facility in the area.”

The club will be open to local basketball players, ages 8 to 15. The spring session will kick off April 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Joe White Gymnasium. Through May 21, every Monday and Wednesday, Aye, his coaching staff, and several players will play host to clinics in the gym. According to the release, players will develop their fundamentals and build on skills. When the spring session ends, Aye plans to follow up with a summer session as well.

“I want to bridge the gap between Hancock and the local basketball community,” Aye said. “I want kids playing and watching basketball in our gym year-round. We want Hancock to truly be the community’s home team.”
