“Samantha Byrd is a klutz—an accident waiting to happen. She’s the laughingstock of the girls’ basketball team. And that mean, rotten Judith Bellwood is making her life miserable on and off the court.
“But all of that is about to change.
“Sam’s met someone who can grant her three wishes. Too bad Sam wasn’t more careful about what she wished for. Because her wishes are coming true … and they’re turning her life into a living nightmare.”
That’s the description on the back of R.L. Stine’s classic Goosebumps book, “Be Careful What You Wish For.” It’s one of three scary tales we’ll read around the Discovery Museum’s Bunkhouse “campfire” during our first-ever, spine-chillingly awesome Goosebumps-themed event on Friday, Oct. 24. Little ones beware! This event is for children ages 7 and older (parents, we trust you to use your best judgment to determine whether your child will enjoy getting scared silly).
That evening, the museum will stay open later than usual, from 5 to 7 p.m., so Stine fans can read some of his classic tales together and come up with one of their own.
Those looking for a fun, more family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween can come to our ever-popular Batty Ball on Sunday, Oct. 26, from noon to 4 p.m., where we’ll have a costume contest, games, a cookie decorating station provided by Big Joe’s Brats, and more!
For more information, call the museum at 928-8414.
