Hilda Zacarías, Democratic candidate for the 33rd District Assembly seat, has been endorsed by California List, a political network that works to elect more Democratic women to state government. Founded in 2002 by Bettina Duval and other politically active women, California List currently has more than 1,500 Californians as members. The organization seeks to strengthen the voice of Democratic women and their values in state government. “I feel honored to be endorsed by a group that encourages communities and individuals to step forward and develop our state’s next generation of leaders,” Zacarías said in a release to the media. Zacarías currently serves on the Santa Maria City Council as mayor pro tem and is the only Democrat in the race. She has also been endorsed by current and former elected officials, including Santa Maria City Council member Mike Cordero and former Santa Barbara County supervisors Toru Miyoshi and Tom Urbanske.
