Strawberries are having their time in the sun. This year marks the 22nd annual Santa Maria Valley Strawberry Festival, where family, festival rides, and strawberries meet.
This year’s theme is “Red, Ripe, and Ready”—fitting for the two-day extravaganza. The festival launch marks the beginning of strawberry season. It also highlights the importance of the strawberry industry to the community.
Some of the attractions include chef demonstrations, educational exhibits and displays, wine tasting for the adult crowd, ever-popular berry tasting, and—back by popular demand—a wildlife animal show. Clothing, jewelry, and food will be available for purchase.
The festival will kick off with Telemundo Seniors Day on April 24, when seniors 62 and older get admission for $1. April 25 is Pepsi Kids Day with children 6 to 11 admitted for $1, along with the festival’s first-ever Destruction Derby. April 26 is Fiesta Day featuring a Feista Del Charro Rodeo and Hispanic concert, which will require a separate ticket.
Pre-sale tickets are available at a number of locations in the Santa Maria Valley. The festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day at the Santa Maria Fairpark, 937 S. Thornburg.
