The Volunteen Scholarship Award recently gave $7,000 in scholarships to four local college-bound teens who volunteer at Marian Regional Medical Center.

The four locals served many hours at Marian Regional Medical Center with the Volunteen program. Scholarship winner Alyssa Scannelli accumulated a total of 759 hours in the program—the most hours of any ā€œvolunteenā€ in the program. She will be attending Grand Canyon University for a degree in nursing, according to a release from Dignity Health.

Other winners include Matthew Vitty, Serena Guentz, and Stephanie Tinoco. Vitty has served 454 hours and will be attending John Hopkins University to study neuroscience and international studies. Guentz gave 590 hours of service and will study radiology technology at Allan Hancock College. Tinoco dedicated 441 hours to the program and will attend Sacramento State University to study gerontology.

The Marian Regional Medical Center Volunteen program accepts students who are in high school or are entering high school in the fall who are at least 14 years old. The program provides an opportunity for students to be a part of a team dedicated to high-quality patient care.
