Former Dunn School soccer player Abu Danladi is headed to Hollywood to face off against other top athletes for the 2013-14 Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year award.

Danladi will offer some stiff competition against other athletes. The Ghana, Africa, native scored at least one goal in every game he played last season while serving as captain. Danladi also maintained a 3.05 GPA and spends his free time volunteering for several nonprofit organizations. This coming fall, he will continue his soccer career on scholarship at UCLA.

In its 12th year, the Athlete of the Year award has become a highly recognized award in high school sports. Winners of the award will be announced at a dinner emceed my Hannah Storm of ESPN. As part of the honor, Abu and his fellow nominees will walk the red carpet prior to the ESPY Awards.
