The Santa Maria Girls Softball 12 and Under All-Star Team, the Indians, is heading to Milwaukie, Ore., to represent Central California in the Amateur Softball Association’s Fast Pitch Western National Championships. The tournament takes place July 26 to Aug. 2.
The team, ranked fifth in the tournament standings, took the Indians nickname to represent the Santa Maria community after the semipro baseball team by the same name closed up operations.
