American Principle Bank, a San Luis Obispo-based bank that serves residents of northern Santa Barbara County, announced the hiring of Mark A. Crawford as its new executive vice president and chief credit officer.

Crawford boasts more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry, including employment in the U.S. Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in a variety of supervisory, policy, and training roles. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BBA in finance and economics and has held a wide variety of industry positions, with a focus in credit administration and risk management. He was most recently a senior executive vice president and the chief risk officer for a financial institution in Texas and has been consulting for American Principle pending receipt of regulatory approval for his hire as an executive officer.

Ā American Principle is currently preparing its first branch office, to be located in Santa Maria, with a target opening in mid-2010.
