The Central Coast Music Teachers Association recently held its 20th annual fall auditions. Out of a total of 35 participating students, 23 received the highest rating of ā€œ5,ā€ qualifying them to play at the CAPMT Northern Festival in Danville on Jan. 23, 2010, or at the upcoming CAPMT conference on Feb. 6, 2010, in the City of Industry. Students participating in the solo auditions performed two pieces from memory as well as one duet piece. There were also two ensemble teams.

The six teachers who entered students were Louise Frye of Nipomo, Betty Hansen of Santa Maria, Belva Hanson of Santa Maria, Nell Kauffman of Arroyo Grande, Debbie Lagomarsino of Paso Robles, and Richelle Cross of Arroyo Grande. Eleanor Amend from Santa Clara Valley was the adjudicator.

The Central Coast Music Teachers Association is a local chapter of District VI, which includes San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. It’s affiliated with the California Association of Professional Music Teachers and Music Teachers National Association.
