I have read the Sun‘s stories on the recent situations regarding the Lompoc City Council (“A house divided,” and “Loopy in Lompoc,” Sept. 14). I posted questions regarding the $750,000 loan that was made by Bank of America, which was originally intended for the demolition of the municipal pool, but allegations from former Mayor John Lynn state this money was borrowed to cover deficiencies in the current budget.

I have decided to run for Lompoc City Council in 2018, for the reasons mentioned in the stories posted by the Sun, my own concerns with the council, and direction our town has gone. I fear if more don’t step up and are willing to make a change, we will be too far from the direction the citizens want. I want to thank the Canary and the Sun for focusing on Lompoc as much as you have these past couple of weeks. Our town needs to be informed, and change needs to happen.
