The Lucia Mar Foundation for Innovation is holding its first special fundraiser, a wine and cheese pairing, on Dec. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. at La Perla del Mar Church in Shell Beach to benefit district schools.
At the event, the foundation will recognize inaugural members of its Founders Club—contributors of $2,500 or more. The foundation has raised approximately $50,000 to date.
Guests will get to taste and learn about specialty cheeses from New Frontiers’ head cheesemonger while enjoying local wines. There will also be a silent auction featuring a chauffeured wine-tasting excursion, golf for four, a sea kayaking tour, local business gift certificates, and more.
Foundation volunteers, as well as staff from the Lucia Mar Unified School District, will be present to talk about the first two innovative programs supported by the foundation: New Tech High School in Nipomo and the International Baccalaureate program at Grover Beach Elementary School.
Tickets cost $20 per person. La Perla del Mar Church is at 205 Windward Ave. in Shell Beach.
