On May 2, the Latino Outreach Council of San Luis Obispo County will be holding Fiesta Latina, its first-ever Cinco de Mayo festival.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction, no-host cocktails and wine, live entertainment by the Mariachis Mexicanisimo, and a dinner featuring Mexican fare. Dancing to festive Latin music by DJ Rawger Rodriguez will follow.

ā€œ[This] is going to be a fun event and a great way to start the Cinco de Mayo celebration,ā€ said Jacqueline Vitti Frederick, chairperson of the Latino Outreach Council. ā€œThe funding will go to scholarships for college and technical school-bound high school graduates.ā€

Fiesta Latina will commemorate the life of the late Paul Teixiera who served as supervisor of San Luis Obispo County’s fourth supervisorial district and chairperson of the Latino Outreach Council. It will also honor Katcho Achadjian, a member of the California State Assembly, for his support of the Latino community.

Tickets are $50 per person, and tables seating eight can be reserved for $400. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Latino Outreach Council College Scholarship fund.

Fiesta Latina will take place at the Edwards Barn located at 1096 Pomeroy Road in Nipomo.
