The Santa Barbara County Superior Court is currently seeking volunteers for the 2009-10 Civil Grand Jury.

Grand Jury members serve a one-year period, from July 2009 to June 2010, and spend about 25 hours a week composing investigative reports. Some of the tasks carried out by jury members include investigating and reviewing government departments and participating in financial audits.

To be considered for jury service, applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and residents of Santa Barbara County for at least one year. Applicants also must never have been convicted of a felony or illegal conduct while in office.

Applications for the 2009-10 Grand Jury are available at the Santa Barbara County Superior Court Jury Services office in Santa Maria or online at sbcourts.org. Applications must be submitted to the Superior Court Jury Services, 1108 Santa Barbara St., in Santa Barbara by May 1.
