Santa Barbara County artist Margie Bowker will have her artwork on display and for sale at the Santa Maria Country Club Oct. 3 through 31 to benefit Hats for Hope. The group will receive 10 percent of all proceeds from the sale of Bowkerās artwork.

Bowker enjoys painting in watercolors, pastels, and oils. Her art includes embellished giclees, art tiles, and note cards. Her portfolio and subject matter is very diverse, ranging from portraiture to landscapes. Her work on display at the show will include scenes from the Santa Maria Valley. Her watercolor painting Home Before Dark, published by American Art Collectorās Book for 2011, will also be for sale at this exhibit.
Hats for Hope is dedicated to lifting the spirits of women battling cancer on the Central Coast by providing funding for hats, wigs, or head coverings for patients who lose their hair because of chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
Bowker was first made aware of the organization when she was in South Africa and was introduced to someone who benefited from the program.
āThis really touched my heart, because I know people who have had breast cancer and itās a really, really horrible thing,ā Bowker said.

Sheās donated paintings and art tiles to Hats for Hope fundraisers, but when Rancho Miranda closedāand along with it, its annual fundraising eventāBowker felt compelled to step up and do something. With permission from the Santa Maria Country Club, Bowker decided to play host to the show and donate proceeds from the sales to Hats for Hope.
Rickās Limousines has donated a specially priced package for parties of five or more, providing transportation to the Santa Maria Country Club from the Nipomo, Arroyo Grande, and Santa Maria areas. With transportation available and all her best work on display, Bowker said thereās little reason for people not to come see the show.
āI just hope everyone in the whole world comes,ā she said.
