Plenty of salons are sprinkled across the map of the Central Coast, so opening up another one can be risky business.

Risk or no risk, owner Denise LaLiberte and her fellow stylists have what it takes to make their new salon successful.

The Hot Spot Salon, set to have its grand opening later this month, has taken on a new owner and a fresh new look. LaLiberte has had her salon license since 1987, but this is her first time running a business. So far, she’s having a blast.

ā€œIt’s a lot of fun, and the girls are awesome,ā€ LaLiberte said.

The salon, located in the Tom’s Hamburger shopping center in Lompoc, took about two weeks to renovate, and there are still minor changes to be made. Laliberte said the salon was gutted completely, and they transformed the design from a clean beach scene to a fun and flirty pink-and-white decor. Workers replaced the floors, added tile backsplash to the wash stations, and updated the bathroom.

The Hot Spot Salon features a wide array of beauty services, such as NovaLash lash extensions, feather extensions, hair tinsel, hair cuts, styles, perms, color, highlights, prom and wedding up-do’s, fiberglass nails, and manicures and pedicures. Ready to do ā€œall things beautiful for a client,ā€ as Laliberte says, each of the stylists uses different quality hair care products so customers aren’t limited when it comes to choices.

The salon’s grand opening will kick off at
4 p.m. on June 27 with a traditional Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. Following that, the salon will host a boutique with handmade items—such as Litebox Luminaries, aprons, greeting cards, luminescent luxury candles, and handcrafted jewelry, many made by the salon’s clients—for sale.

Event organizers will also offer tasty hors d’oeuvres and a drawing to give away complimentary salon services for eyelash and feather extensions, manicures and pedicures, and hair styles and color. Laliberte said she hopes the event will draw out more clientele.

Currently, the salon team consists of three stylists, including Laliberte. Ladies looking to make their way in the world of beauty, take note: The salon is looking for another fun and friendly stylist.

The Hot Spot Salon is located at 115 E. College Ave., suite 7, in Lompoc.
