The Allan Hancock College Athletics Department is looking for Bulldog alumni to help introduce the new track to the community. The college is scheduled reveal the new track on Jan. 25 from 11 a.m. to noon. Events will include a barbecue, a kids’ race, and a relay race with six alumni.
After more than a year of construction, the track is done and features football practice fields, soccer fields, and eight lanes. Funding was provided through Measure I, which passed in 2006, as well as support from the city of Santa Maria.
“After 13 seasons as the track and field coach, I could not be more excited about the new track,” head coach Louie Quintana said in a press release. “It benefits how and when our student-athletes train. It will also be a huge asset in recruiting.”
