The holidays are just around the corner, and the Discovery Museum is ready for them. We have lots of fun educational programming planned for the week of Thanksgiving:
⢠Weāll be making Native American headdresses on Super Sunday, Nov. 23, from noon to 4 p.m. Bring a brown paper bag and any extra decorations youād like to put on your headdress.
⢠For Tuesday Tales on Nov. 25 at 10:30 a.m., weāll celebrate Thanksgiving with Arthur from the popular childrenās book series.
⢠On Nov. 26 at 10:45 a.m., our Preschool Patrollers will make Pilgrim hats and enjoy a make-believe Thanksgiving feast.
After youāve enjoyed your turkey and stuffing, come back to the museum to hang out with that jolly, fat man in the red suit during Morning with Santa on Dec. 13. Starting at 10 a.m., weāll be leading the kids in various activities, including holiday crafts, cookie decorating, and games. Children will also get to tell Santa what theyād like for Christmas and have their picture taken.
If you canāt make it to the museum that day, donāt worry because we have plenty of other holiday-themed programming planned, such as making Olaf snowmen on Dec. 3 and writing letters to Santa on Dec. 10. Stop by the museum soon for a full calendar of events.
The Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum is at 705 S. McClelland St. in Santa Maria. We are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
