California Assembly candidate Etta Waterfield has added another endorsement to her list. On Sept. 28, Atascadero’s former Mayor Pro Tem Roberta Fonzi announced her support of the Santa Maria Republican for the open 33rd District Assembly seat. ā€œEtta Waterfield is exactly the type of legislator we need in Sacramento,ā€ Fonzi said in a press release. ā€œTaxpayers can trust Etta to hold the line to protect homeowners by preserving Proposition 13, refusing to support higher taxes, and demand that Sacramento end its runaway spending habits. Etta will fight to reduce the regulatory burden on small businesses, farmers, ranchers, and to adopt policies to encourage businesses to remain in California.ā€ Fonzi is a longtime resident of Atascadero, and served on the city’s Planning Commission for nearly 10 years before being elected to the City Council in 2008. She was selected by her council peers to be the next mayor of Atascadero, a seat she will assume in December 2009.
