Nipomo resident and Cal Poly graduate Doug Jenzen is looking for pre-1980 photographs of Nipomo that might be used in a pictorial history to be published by Arcadia Publishing. The book, part of its Images of America series, will be named after the town and will be a celebration of Nipomo’s history.

All royalties from the book will be donated to the Dana Adobe for its continued Living Historical Park development and restoration of the adobe house. The Dana Adobe, built in 1837, is one of the first settlements in the region.

Photos from family collections are important as they help to show the daily life of Nipomo residents throughout past generations. Photographs of historical landmarks, events, or buildings that may not have survived the years are also highly important, as the publishers hope they’ll help encourage awareness of the importance of Nipomo in American history.

Anyone with photographs to be considered for the book may contact Jenzen at doug.jenzen@gmail.com or Marina Washburn at the Dana Adobe at 929-5679.
