The Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department announced it will hold five separate Junior Lifeguard classes for youth, ages 9 to 14 years, beginning June 20.
The classes will be offered at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center and at Pioneer Valley High School. Participants will learn basic rescue techniques and improved stroke techniques, life fitness skills, teamwork, and more. Interested participants must be able to consistently swim 100 yards.
