 The draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Santa Maria Integrated Waste Management Facility Project is now available, according to an announcement from the city.
The report can be reviewed at the Santa Maria Public Library, 421 S. McClelland St., 
on the second floor. A digital copy is available on the city’s website at ci.santa-maria.ca.us/207-01.shtml.
The proposed site for a new landfill facility is the Los Flores Ranch, a 1,774-acre property located on the east side of U.S. Highway 101 between Orcutt and Los Alamos. A recreation venue is also planned nearby.
According to city officials, the site would meet solid waste needs for surrounding jurisdictions for the next 90 years, and provide diverse recreational activities. The project will enable the city of Santa Maria to phase out the use of—and close—the existing Santa Maria Regional Landfill in the next few years.
