As 2010 drifts away on a tide of rain, a recap of yesterday’s news evokes tasty memories of a year-gone-by. Here in the Eats column, we’ve learned cooking skills, explored farm-fresh ingredients, and sampled the fare at local

eateries. We’ve dabbled in wine and art, planned wine country excursions, and kept up with the latest releases and tasting room haps. Here, then, is a look at some of the fun we had during the late, great Year of the Tiger.

A FIRST FOR CHARDONNAY: In July, the Santa Maria Valley Wine Country Association hosted its first-ever Chardonnay Symposium. SALAD BOWLS OVER GUADALUPE: With the harvest of 2010 came the inaugural Santa Maria Valley Salad Bowl Festival, a tribute to the bounty of local produce.
