Giving gifts is an important part of the holiday season, especially if those gifts help spread joy to numerous people! This year, in addition to finding the perfect present for mom, grandpa, or Fluffy, consider giving to someone in need through the Discovery Museumās Holiday Giving Tree and Giving Tree Junior.
Attendees of our annual Morning with Santa event and $1,000 Holiday Shopping Spree Raffle Drawing on Saturday, Dec. 13, will get to be the first people to pick philanthropic ornaments off the giving trees. The āadultā tree will include such opportunities as volunteering at the museum, purchasing a Discovery Museum birthday party in someoneās honor, making a monetary donation to help with operational costs, or donating some much-needed supplies for our Creation Station and weekly programs. The ājuniorā tree for our smaller patrons will include fun ways for little ones to give, such as making a card for someone, helping mom or dad around the house, or giving someone a hug.
Items donated through the giving trees will help the Discovery Museum and its staff continue to provide affordable, accessible educational services to all families in our community. The trees will be up through the New Year, so stop by soon to pick out an ornament!
The Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum is at 705 S. McClelland St. in Santa Maria. We are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
