The Santa Maria Baseball Club is hosting a Wood Bat Tournament on Aug. 22 and 23 at Elks Field, sponsored by the Pitchout and the Santa Maria Valley Sportsman’s Association.
Six local baseball teams will participate: the High School Wahoos; the Santa Maria Baseball Club and other teams made up of players from Bakersfield and Santa Paula; and Santa Maria and Righetti high schools.
Four games will be held each day beginning at 10 a.m. Presale tickets are available for $8 and include entrance to all eight games and one tri-tip sandwich barbecue complete with chips and a drink. The barbecue will be served both days from noon to 5 p.m.
For those who just want to watch the games, there will be a cover charge of $3 at the gate.
