Mr. Jones wonders why Mr. Smith refers to himself in the third person (ā€œDoes speaking your opinion constitute attack?ā€ July 19).

All kidding aside, I sort of agree with him regarding the Canary/Shredder guy/guys/committee/whatever it is. Are the readers to assume that it is one guy who snivels about all kinds of stuff? Why is there an anonymous column in a quasi-respectable local paper? Why not sign your name to your ā€œopinions?ā€ I mean, most of the time, it’s just drivel that nobody really gives a shit about.

Apparently Will Smith disagrees with what you printed. Why not put a name to what you are saying about him? He could then address whoever it is writing what he considers false statements about him. It’s usually just rumors in that column anyway.

Anonymous columns don’t belong in your paper.
