The Santa Ynez Valley Natural History Society will host a free Zoom lecture with science writer and bird enthusiast Rebecca Heisman on Thursday, Sept. 21, starting at 7 p.m.

Heisman will be discussing her book, Flight Paths: How a Passionate and Quirky Group of Pioneering Scientists Solved the Mystery of Bird Migration, during the webinar.

The author became fascinated with the various techniques that scientists use to study bird migration while working for the American Ornithological Society, according to press materials. Flight Paths marks her first book and was published during the spring of 2023.
