The plot of Grease follows a group of teenagers “as they navigate the complexities of peer pressure, gossip, politics, personal core values, and love,” according to press materials from the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District.

The show’s ensemble cast includes Angelina Rocha, a junior at Pioneer Valley High School, who plays Sonny.

“The best part of this so far has been being able to act, dance, and see everyone do the entire play all the way through for the first time,” Rocha said in a statement.

Brian Solar, a senior at Pioneer Valley High School, plays Kenickie in the show. Both Solar and Hunter McCormick, also a senior at Pioneer Valley High School, said in the statement that their favorite number in the musical is “Grease Lightning.”

“I also have a solo [during “Grease Lightning”] and that is always exciting,” McCormick, who plays Doody in the show, said in the statement.

Riccardo Sanchez, a senior at Righetti High School, described “Grease Lightning” as “the hardest dance number to learn.”

“There’s a lot of going up and down the steps, and we all have to work together,” Sanchez, who plays Roger in the show, said in the statement.
