Bunco tourney will benefit city recreationBY JEREMY THOMAS
The People for Leisure and Youth will be hosting a 1950s style Bunco tournament to raise funds for youth recreation in the Santa Maria Valley on April 16. Bunco is a game where players take turns rolling dice, trying to accumulate as many points as possible to win each round. Cash prizes will be awarded for several categories, including “The Most Buncos” and “The Most Losses.” The event takes place at the Santa Maria Radisson, 3455 Airpark Drive, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $25 and include appetizers. There will be a no-host bar and entertainment by DJs “Chad and Andy” of Emerald Wave media. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit recreation and leisure in the Santa Maria Valley and help fund local parks, sports and recreation scholarships, swim passes, playground equipment, and more. Online registration is available at santamariaatplay.org and in person at the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department, 615 S. McClelland St. For more information, call Tara Boucher at P.L.A.Y. Inc., 925-0951, Ext.157. Sports Shorts is compiled by Staff Writer Jeremy Thomas. Information should be sent to the Sun via fax, e-mail, or mail. |
